“하나님께 감사를....”

감사의 계절이 찾아 왔습니다. 성탄절은 우리의 마음을 들뜨게 하지만 추수감사절은 우리 마음을 깊게 만들어 주는 것 같습니다. 우리 교회는 오늘 추수 감사주일을 기념합니다. 이번 추수 감사는 다른 어느 해와는 다른 우리 정성을 다한 감사를 드렸으면 좋겠습니다.

감사란 하나님께로 받은 것을 받았다고 표현하는 것입니다. 우리가 감사하는 내용이 우리의 가치를 결정합니다. 우리가 표현하는 감사의 내용이 우리의 성숙을 결정합니다. 어떤 의미로 우리가 감사하고 있다는 사실만으로도 우리는 성숙의 길에 들어섰다고 해도 과언이 아닙니다.

미숙한 사람들의 특징은 불평으로 나타납니다. 그들은 원망합니다. 그러나 성숙한 사람은 감격합니다. 감사합니다. 성숙한 감사를 드리는 사람들을 보면 그들의 환경이 우리 보다 더 나은 것이 아닌 것을 보고 놀라게 됩니다. 그러나 그들은 감사로 가득차 있습니다. 뇌성마비로 고통을 받고 있는 한국에 잘 알려진 시인 송명의 시를 읽어보면 감사로 충만해 있는 것을 봅니다. 그 까닭은 그분의 삶의 환경 때문이 아닙니다. 지금 그분의 환경은 힘들고 어렵습니다. 그러나 그분이 감사할 수 있는 것은 하나님의 은혜에 대한 깨달음 때문입니다. 하나님께서 그 마음에 감사하는 마음을 주셨기 때문입니다.

우리의 삶에 감사가 중요한 것은 감사하게 되면 무엇보다도 우리의 마음이 풍요로워집니다. 우리의 마음에 감사가 있으면 우리 마음이 따뜻해집니다. 감사하게 되면 우리의 삶에 없는 것 보다는 있는 것을 보게 됩니다. 감사하는 사람들은 다른 사람이 볼 수 없는 것을 보게 됩니다. 겨자씨와 같은 작은 것을 크게 보게 됩니다. 손으로 만질 수 없는 가치 있는 것을 소중히 여기게 됩니다. 예수님께서는 기적을 행하시기 전에 먼저 감사의 기도를 드리셨다는 것을 아십니까? 예수님께서 그렇게 하신 이유는 감사는 기적의 창조하는 재료이기 때문입니다. 감사하십시오. 그러면 다른 사람들이 경험하지 못한 기적을 경험하게 될 것입니다.

추수감사절을 맞이해서 하나님께 받은 은혜를 헤아려 보십시오. 그리고 마음으로 감사하십시오. 입술로 감사를 표현하십시오. 정성을 다한 예물로 감사를 드리십시오. 지난 한 해 동안 헌신적으로 목장을 섬겨준 목자들에게도 감사드립니다. 부족한 종을 아껴 주시고, 기도해 주신 성도님들께도 감사를 드립니다. 추수 감사절을 맞이해서 성도님들의 가정위에 좋으신 하나님의 축복이 넘치기를 빕니다.

The season of thanksgiving is coming. Christmas makes our hearts excited, but thanksgiving makes our hearts grow deeper. We are celebrating today as Thanksgiving Sunday. I hope all of us can give the best of the best thanksgiving different from any other year on this Sunday to Our Lord.

What it means "to thank" is to recognize that all that we now have is really God's. Being rich in contents of our thanksgiving shows our true values. The contents of our repressions of thanksgiving shows how mature we are. In some ways, the fact that we feel grateful to the Lord simply lets us know that we are already growing into maturity.

The characteristic of immature people grumbles and resents for circumstances. On the contrary, mature people are thankful and feel grateful. When we meet those mature people who are filled with thankfulness, we are amazed that their situations are not any better than ours. Whatever their circumstances, their lives are filled with gratitude and thankfulness. A well known Korean poetess, Myung-Hee Song, has been suffering from cerebral infantile paralysis for her whole life. Her life circumstances, however, are still harder and more difficult than any of ours. But the reason she can live a thankful life is because of her deep understanding about God's grace. It is God who gave her a thankful heart so she can thank the lord in all she does.

The reason thanksgiving is important for us is because our hearts become abundant. When we give thanks to the Lord, thanksgiving warms the heart. Thankful hearts enable us to see the things that we still have left rather than what we have lost. The people who can give thanks to God can see things that other can not see. We can see the bigness of a tiny mustard seed. Our hearts can value the invisible and untouchable things more. Do you know Jesus Christ prayed the prayer of thanksgiving first before He performed miracles? The reason He did so is because " thanking" is an essential element that creates miracles. Be thankful and grateful then you may experience the wonderful work that other can not see of God in your life.

As you celebrate this Thanksgiving Sunday, count the blessing you have received from God. Give thanks to God with all your heart. Express the thankfulness and gratitude with your lips. I pray that the blessings of our good God will overflow upon your family in this season of thanksgiving.
